@bobjonkman @karl Does take more time to go in and vote than to just push a button on the election-fraud-machine, though. -

Thing is, Canadian voting doesn't take more time. Even though it's paper based and manually counted, results are published within hours. -

I love how low-tech Canadian voting is. Paper, pencil, a literal ballot box, and a whole lot of eyes on each physical ballot as they're counted. I don't care if it costs more and takes more time. It's a safer process. -

I have close to a dozen LCD monitors that probably need new caps in their power regulators. Just need to open them up and take a trip to Sayal's... But time. -

@maiyannah The mainboard in the case (that died last night) seems to have OK caps. The junkbox mainboard flayed open on the bench has all kinds of popped caps, but it works. Go figure. -

The current state of server 'simak', Comm server. Was to be the new mail server, but got pressed into service as the DB server to resurrect my StatusNet and WordPress instances. http://sn.jonkman.ca/attachment/30296 -

From last night -- Here we go again: Mere weeks after I rescue the databases for sn.jonkman.ca and s.russwurm.org the server on which I restored them packs it in. The lights are on, but nobody's home. That is, the computer appears to power on, but hangs during POST. It's an old box, and suffers from Capacitor Plague. I'll see what I can scrounge up from my parts box, but it'll be a day or two. -

Heh. I was amazed a the capacity of high-density 5 1/4" disks. And again about 3.5" disks. And every year or two about hard drives. And now I'm amazed at SSDs... -

@mcscx I didn't save the Wireshark capture, but it looked like IPs from all over the internets asking about other IPs all over the internets. Could be malicious doorknob rattling. I don't know what kind of frames are on the cable side of the modem; it just delivers plain ol' Ethernet to the pfSense box. I should have full access to that cable modem, but I'm disinclined to take the… -

Successfully upgraded #pfSense from 2.2.x to 2.3.5 yesterday. Wouldn't accept the WAN connection at first, but a couple of re-boots of both the cable modem and the pfSense box fixed that. Discovered that the cable modem passes through about 150 ARP requests per second! Is that normal? -

The Silence app is needed on both sides for encrypted texting. If the sender doesn't have the key for the recipient then a key exchange message is sent automatically, followed by the encrypted message. If the recipient doesn't have the Silence app then the message is sent in plaintext. I don't know the details of the key exchange, or what overhead the key probing incurs. !crypto -

Sadly, the article does not seem to understand the purpose of the blockchain: nonrepudiability. Transactions in the blockchain are *not* anonymous, they are *verifiable*. Voting online may be OK for things like requesting more frequent garbage collection, but almost any issue (even garbage collection) is susceptible to voter coercion -- maybe the garbage collectors have a stake in … -
