Some time ago, a Fedizen (one of the @lnxwalts?) provided a link to a Thunderbird addons and settings synchronizer. Please sir, may I have it again? -

@eric My ProBook is only two years old, but I was dualbooting with Win7 (which I don't use much any more and recently converted to a .VHD with "Disk2VHD" from http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/ee656415.aspx ); it had two LUKS encrypted partitions spanned together with LVM (one of which wouldn't mount until AFTER the OS was loaded, making it difficult to boot when the … -

And another one: !Trisquel uses Abrowser instead of !Firefox, but with v29 I can no longer add a new browser to my v1.0 !selfhosted sync server. So, restore the backup of my .mozilla/firefox folder and 'ln -s firefox abrowser'. Works like a charm; all the old settings restored! #WithFreeSoftwareYoureInControl -

And, of course, I knew this already. In my regular backup scripts I do it right: 'rsync -avz ~ srvr:/home' not 'rsync -avz ~/* srvr:/home/bob/' But I wanted to backup all the files that are usually excluded (tmp, cache, music and video) so I thought I'd do it manually. Fortunately, there's an older backup that has everything. I'm only going to restore hidden things like .gnupg an… -

Another lesson from my !Trisquel install: 'rsync ~/*' does NOT back up your .hidden files! Looks like this will be a cleaner install than I anticipated. #OhNoNotAnotherLearningOpportunity -

For some people, !FreeSoftware is like a drug. They go from proprietary apps to !FS apps on a proprietary OS, then try !GNU / !Linux on a USB drive for a while, then install a popular GNU/Linux distro, and as they learn they can do MORE with !FS, not less, they eventually switch to distros that respect their freedom more. -

Spent much of the night mollycoddling a !gNewSense install, only to find that my hardware (HP ProBook) is not fully supported. I suppose I could eventually get the WiFi to connect and the screen to use all the pixels, but why bother messing around with modprobe and its ilk when the problem is likely solved in another distro? Now installing !Trisquel from the netboot image; it's ba… -

@sergiodj Do you have a link to that? I've read bits and pieces about the late-night meetings when Mozilla first opened their source code (for which @ESR took credit), but its alway nice to read the creation myths of our tribe. -

Thanx for the !Linux tip! I've been keeping /boot , /var and /home separate, but now that I've built a collection of scripts &c. I may just keep partitions for /opt and /usr/local too. Just in time for my !gNewSense installation! -

I followed a link and read the comments: "Mozilla are not a Free Software organisation. They’re not interested in the philosophy of Free Software. They use Open Source as a development model (an they do so very well) and their actions sometimes align with those of the Free Software movement, but that’s more of a happy accident rather than by design." http://blog.gerv.net/2014/0… -
